I
can distinguish a few factors that most contributed to my being in
the seminary. The first is the example of my parents, who prayed
the family rosary each night before bed.
Secondly, attending daily Mass in grade school and high
school--part of the curriculum itself--was an integral part of my
earlier formation. Then for the last twenty years as a lay person,
during my employment, I usually attended daily Mass. In other
words Jesus himself, in Holy Communion, helped me to concentrate on
the priesthood as my heart's desire and a vocational goal.
Other factors contributing to my vocation include Holy
Apostles Seminary and its encouragement of the daily holy hour--an
hour of spiritual reading and prayer spent in the Presence of Jesus
in the tabernacle. Also, this seminary has a strong preferential
option in favor of the unborn and of all society's defenseless
citizens. Finally, the personal support and encouragement that
Bishop Robert Finn has given to EACH of his seminarians is a most
positive and helpful factor in my vocation.
