I'm one of the oldest seminarians in the diocese.
Okay, so at 20 I'm not one of the oldest in terms of age, but I am in length of formation. Graduating from Conception this spring marked the end of my seventh year as a seminarian for the diocese. I had the great blessing of attending a high school seminary, St. Thomas Aquinas in Hannibal.
Looking back, I am grateful to our Heavenly Father for the inspiration and instruction of many priests who were and are my role models. I am also thankful for the faithful witness and constant prayers and support of dozens of amazing families, particularly my own.
As I look to the future, I'm filled with wonder, anticipation and enthusiasm. It is my perpetual prayer that our patient Lord will continue to shape and mold me, conforming me to His image. I like St. Paul's advice to young Timothy, "Train yourself for devotion, for while physical training is of limited value, devotion is valuable in every respect, since it holds a promise of life both for the present and for the future." Amen.
