DEACON Douglas Langner

Douglas Langner

Name: Mr. Douglas Langner

Seminary: Mundelein

Home Parish: St. Raphael, Kansas City

Birthday: 10/3

Having not been raised Catholic; the priesthood was the furthest thing from my mind growing up. This is why we must all take time to seek God and His will in our lives. Before leading me into the seminary, the Lord led me into His Church. Many years of my life were spent wandering through life seeking my way on my own. The great thing is we don't need to walk the road of life alone. Our Lord is with us every step of the way!

After coming into full communion with the Church, I became involved in various ways in the Church. The more involved I became, the more I felt called to something more in my life. It was difficult at first, as I felt I would one day marry and have a family of my own. Once I committed myself to being open to the idea of being a priest, I have found I have changed. This change has not been a change of being less of myself, but truly a change of becoming who I truly am.

I would encourage EVERYONE who is not married or engaged to be married to pray and ask Our Lord if He might be calling you to be a priest, sister or brother. We all have the "Hope" of doing something extraordinary in our lives, be open to the ways God offers you His grace. If we do this, as St. Paul said to the Romans, "Hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us." (Rom 5:5)
