Message from the Director,
On April 12, 2006, Bishop Robert W. Finn, D.D., approved a new program for formation of permanent deacons in the Diocese of Kansas City-St.Joseph. The new formation program meets the standards of the National Directory for Formation of Deacons, as did the previous diaconate formation provided by the diocese.
The new program consists of a year of aspirancy (a discernment year) followed by three and a half years of academic and pastoral/ministerial formation. Other elements of the formation program include human, pastoral and spiritual formation.
Diaconate Class 19 is currently in their second year of Candidacy and is attending academic formation at Conception Abbey Seminary College on weekends.
The application process for the next formation class (class 20) will begin in the Spring of 2013.
