I graduated from Rockhurst High School in 2007. While I was there I felt little calls to the priesthood and religious life but they never seemed to last for more than a few weeks and I never really took them that seriously. After high school I attended the University of Dallas as a history major and began to drift further and further from my faith. It wasn't until after my freshman year that the call came screaming back. I discerned while studying abroad in Rome with the University and felt that the priesthood was truly what God was calling me to.
I realized through my family and friends that God has His own ways of communicating that I will certainly never fully understand. Looking back I can see how truly influential they all were and I didn't realize it at the time. You can try to ignore what God is calling you to do, but God doesn't take 'no' for an answer and if He truly wants you to do something, you'll do it and the peace that you'll feel because of that decision will be indescribable.
