Hear the Call

These are the words of Monsignor Ernest Fiedler (1925 - 2007)

In his own words, published on www.foryourvocation.org --

"A call anticipates an answer. So how is a person going to answer if they don't understand the call? A call means it comes from somebody else.

How do you recognize it, then, as being a special call to marriage, to religious life, to priesthood, to medicine, to law... How do you know that call? I think with a believing, happy, well-balanced Christian, it comes from listening. That's the only way you can start answering a call; you've got to listen to it.

My understanding of my vocation is I had to become, I wanted to become, a connector. Not an intermediary, a connector, to connect God and people... I see that as my job, trying to connect the world and the Church, the world and God. God is always revealing himself, and we slowly understand it, but we need help. Just like all kids need help growing up and learning, we all need help in growing and learning about God."
