Holy Week: Palm Sunday through Holy Saturday  We celebrate the liturgies of the last week of Lent, where we mark Jesus' triumphant entrance into Jerusalem to his Crucifixion, death and burial. "Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said, 'Father, the hour has come.Give glory to your son, so that your son may glorify you, just as you gave him authority over all people, so that your son may give eternal life to all you gave him."-John17:1-2

Easter April 4, 2015 8:30 pm at the Cathedral. Christ is Resurrected from the dead. We celebrate the most important of Solemnities on this day. "Why seek you the living with the dead? He is not here, but is risen."-Luke 24:5-6

Transitional Diaconate, Permanent Diaconate, and the Presbyterate. Please pray for these men as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Holy Orders. "These they set before the apostles: and they praying, imposed hands upon them."-Acts6:6

Golden Wedding Jubilee May 31, 2015- 2 pm. Bishop Finn invites all couples of the Diocese, married at least 50 years to a special Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The couples will renew their nuptial promises and receive a gift from His Excellency to mark the special occasion. "What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder."-Mark10:9

Corpus Christi Procession Sunday, June 7, 2015 in Kansas. Each year the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph joins with the Archdiocese of Kansas City, KS to have a Eucharistic procession celebrating the Solemnity of the Body of Christ. In 2011 the Archdiocese will host the procession. "Amen. amen, I say unto you: unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath everlating life: and I will raise him up in the last day."-John6:54-55

Adult Confirmations Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 7 pm. Those adult Catholics who are in the Church that desire the fullness of their initiation are confirmed by the prayers and laying on of hands by Bishop Finn. In 2010, 91 adults were confirmed at this annual Mass. "They sent unto them Peter and John. Who, when they were come, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Ghost...Then they laid their hands upon them; and they received the Holy Ghost."-Acts8:14-15,17

Religious Jubilee. October 19, 2014 -  3 pm Every year, Bishop Finn gathers with the women religious of the Diocese and celebrates a Mass with them to mark their anniversaries of profession of vows. "the unmarried woman and the virgin thinketh on the things of the Lord: that she may be holy both in body and in spirit."-1Cor7:34

Bishop's Recognition September 14, 2014 at 2pm Each year, parishes nominate people who have shown exemplary service in volunteer work for the Church. Bishop Finn celebrates a special Mass to acknowledge and honor their hard work. "And these things I will have thee affirm constantly, that they who believe in God may be careful to excel in good works. These things are good and profitable unto men."-Titus3:8

Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception This is a holy day of obligation. Mary, under the title of the Immaculate Conception is the patroness of the United States and of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. "I will put enmity between you and the woman, and your seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head"-Gen3:15

The Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ-December 25th. Holy day of obligation celebrating the Incarnation and Birth of Christ, Son of God and Son of Man. "And the angel said to them: Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy that shall be to all the people: For, this day is born to you a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord, in the city of David."-Luke:2:10-11

Rite of Election- February 21st and 22nd 2015.The Annual Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion. Candidates and Catechumens from the entire Diocese are acknowledged and welcomed by His Excellency Bishop Finn as part of their Sacramental preparation. The Candidates, during the Rite, become The Elect. There are three Rites of Election. Two at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City on the 12th and one at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph on the 13th. "After this, I saw a gerat multitude, which no man could number, of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and in sight of the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands."-Rev.7:9

Solemnity of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary- St. Joseph, husband of Mary and foster father of Christ is a secondary patron of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. "And Jacob begot Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ."-Matt.1:16

Chrism Mass Thursday, March 26, 2015 - 7pm Every year around the time of Holy Week the Bishop gathers together with his priests who renew their Ordination promises.The Bishop blesses the Oil of the Sick and the Oil of Catechumens and consecrates the Sacred Chrism which are used throughout the year in the celebration of the Sacraments. "And you shall make of these a sacred anointing oil blended as by the perfumer; a holy anointing oil it shall be."-Exod30:25
