Marriage and Family

This course provides an introduction to the Catholic understanding of marriage and family. The family is the foundation of human culture and society, and the Christian family has an important role in building up a culture of life for the good of all society. This course explores the meaning of human sexuality, the origin of marriage “in the beginning,” its exclusivity and indissolubility, and its elevation as a Sacrament of the New Covenant by Christ. We will explore the beauty of the Church’s teachings on marital sexuality and procreation as in the texts of the Second Vatican Council, and recent magisterial teachings. The Church’s teachings on marriage, sexuality, and family reveal the beauty and goodness of married love as an image of Divine Love and assist spouses in fully realizing their calling to follow Christ. | ![]() Icon of Ss Joachim and Anne |
